Best Foundations for Dry Skin | Silicone Based | Cruelty Free

 

 

As my makeup wears throughout the day, I usually deal with dry patches and flakiness popping up. My foundation tends to settle in fine lines and accentuate texture. After going through a ton of foundations, I’ve finally discovered some favorites that I cannot be without!

Most of these are silicone based which dry skin responds really well to. Silicone allows the foundation to apply smoothly, float over fine lines and pores, and create a barrier to keep hydration in.

Check out your ingredient list to determine whether or not a foundation is silicone based. Generally, the silicone is the second ingredient after water and ends in (-siloxane, -silocate, and -cone).

I included light to full coverage and both drugstore and high end foundations. Most have more of a dewy or satin finish. So lets lets get started!

 

NYX BB Cream

My Shade: Natural

Details: Oil free, mineral enriched, available in 3 shades

Thoughts: This feel like a thick moisturizing cream as you apply it to your face, but it melts into your skin as sets into a satin finish. I can almost detect a slight glow to my face as well. There are no noticeable glitter flecks, but it definitely has a brightening effect to it. It has light to medium coverage- just enough to even out my completion and cover my hyperpigmentation. It keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day and has never broken me out. This is such a highly underrated BB!

 

Becca Aqua Luminous Foundation

My Shade: Light

Details: Ultra light feel with a radiant finish. Contains Vitamin E and Sodium Hyaluranate.

Thoughts: This is the foundation I reach for when I’m looking for a glow.  It makes your skin looking healthy and luminous. This is described as light coverage, but it’s buildable to medium. Sometimes I’ll mix this with a more full coverage foundation when I wanting a dewy look.  Just be aware if you are feeling the least bit oily, this can look streaky and separate. But for those extra dry skinned gals out there, this foundation makes your skin dewy and radiant!

 

 

Urban Decay Naked Skin

My Shade: 3.5 (go one shade lighter, this can oxidize)

Details: Oil-free, lightweight liquid with a demi matte finish, anti aging ingredients such as Matrixyl 3000, a peptide that maintains and restores skin barrier, protective and brightening Litchiderm, antioxidant green tea, and sodium hyaluronate for optimal skin hydration and nutrient absorption.

Thoughts: This foundation is packed with good for your skin ingredients. It feels amazingly weightless on the skin with a skin like finish. This is considered demi matte, but this looks perfectly dewy on my skin. I’m super impressed at the coverage of this foundation for being sooo lightweight! They really packed a tone of pigment in here. And I of course love all the skin nourishing ingredients. This foundation just keeps my skin looking plump and healthy throughout the day!

 

 

 

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

My Shade: 1.1P (go a shade lighter, the shades look darker online!)

Details: Lightweight full coverage foundation with SPF 15

Thoughts: I love this foundation! It feels like a luxury foundation as it goes on rich and silky smooth. You can sheer this out for medium coverage or build it up for full coverage. It starts off demi matte, but as the foundation wears throughout the day, it transforms into more of a dewy foundation. For such a great price, I’m so impressed as the performance of this!

Thoughts: This foundation is more than a “color corrector”. I think of it as a full coverage, dewy foundation. It has a rich cooling sensation on application, and my skin feels instantly hydrated. It smooths out my skin, and I never have to worry about flakes or texture popping up. It’s not the most long lasting foundation, but it’s great for when you want something quick and easy that performs!

Thoughts: This is one of my favorites. I can build up to full coverage, and it never looks cakey or feel heavy. It floats over my fine lines making my skin look super smooth. I love that it contains Coconut Water and hyaluronic acid to keep my skin feeling balanced.

Thoughts: This gives my skin a beautiful satin like finish. It really makes my skin look like MY skin without it every looking cakey even when you build it up. It keeps any dry patches at bay. I also love the little spatula it includes. It makes application a breeze!

My Shade: 2.1

Thoughts: This is probably one of my most high coverage, long lasting foundation that I own. It’s a thicker foundation yet easy to blend. The littlest bit goes a long way. This makes your skin look flawless covering every imperfection without making skin look cakey. It listed as a matte foundation, but on my skin it has more of a satin finish. I just love the coverage and longevity of this foundation
