Anti Aging Nighttime Skincare Routine- Finally, Real Results!

img_2598img_2598.jpg

Hey guys! Hope everyone is well! I haven’t made a post about my skincare routine yet…so here it goes!

As I enter my mid thirties, I’m really trying to aim my skincare at age prevention and also, treating the signs of aging that I already have. My main skin concerns are fine lines between my eyes aka “the number 11” and hyperpigmentation. I also should say my skin is normal to dry with the occasional hormonal breakout.

In my teen and 20s, I baked in the sun, without SPF of course, and also visited the tanning booth from time to time. I’m definitely paying for it now!

I now make sure I wear an SPF during the day, and at night, I focus my skincare routine on anti-aging. Or shall we say…anti wrinkle? skin plumping? tone improvement? (The term ‘anti-aging’ is starting to be replaced by these terms. I guess we can’t really STOP the aging process. But hey, we can at least slow it down right?!!!)

I’ve switched products in and out for at least a year now, but I’ve finally found a routine that is showing some results! My skin is starting to feel brighter, smoother, and my tone is evening out. Enter my nighttime routine….

Nighttime Routine

Cleanser:

You want to look for a cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin of your natural oils such as a cream cleanser or a cleanser with AHA’s. Your AHA’s are your glycolic’s or lactic acids. These are chemical exfoliants get rid of the dead surface skin cells to reveal brighter skin. This will also create a fresh canvas to help absorb the rest of the products in your routine.

I looove the Glow Mud Cleanser by Pixi Beauty. I contains 5% glycolic acid, and also has aloe vera to sooth the skin. It really gives my skin a deep clean without any irritation. My feels so refreshed, smooth and hydrated after using this!

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Diatomaceous Earth, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Glycolate, Lauroamphocarboxyglycinate and Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Squalane, Anthemis Nobilis Flower (Chamomile) Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf/Root Extract, Hexylene Glycol (and) Fructose (and) Glucose (and) Sucrose (and) Urea (and) Dextrin (and) Alanine (and) Glutamic Acid (and) Aspartic Acid (and) Hexyl Nicotinate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazelnut) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin, Guar Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid.

Toner:

We have another Pixi product! These guys are just so good! I use my Pixi Glow Tonic on the nights when I’m not using my Sunday Riley Good Genes. They both contain AHA’s so I don’t want to over exfoliate and irritate my skin. When I use this, I can visibly see cleaner pores. No oil is left behind, yet it doesn’t strip by skin. I love the way it makes my skin look brighter and it really does leave a glow!

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycolic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Hexylene Glycol, Fructose, Glucose, Sucrose, Urea, Dextrin, Alanine, Glutamic Acid, Aspartic Acid, Hexyl Nicotinate, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Biotin, Panthenol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Caramel, Red 4 (CI 14700).

Serums:

So I use quite a few… this one, by Derm E The Vitamin C Serum, I use on my neck and chest. The slippery consistency of this makes it sooo easy to spread over a large surface area. The Vitamin C helps even tone on my chest, and the hyaluronic acid helps plump the skin. I’m starting to get some fine lines on my chest, and this has seemed to really have made a difference.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C, Stay-C® 50), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived) , Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Propanediol (Vegetable Derived), Microcrystalline Cellulose (Plant Derived), Cellulose Gum (Plant Derived), Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide (Vegetable Derived), Polymnia Sonchifolia (Yacón) Root Juice, Maltodextrin, Lactobacillus (Probiotic), Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel Extract *, Allantoin, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Plant Derived), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylgylcerin, Natural Fragrance Oils.

Another serum I’ve been obsessed with is Sunday Riley Good Genes. This is a lactic acid serum that exfoliates to reveal brighter, more plumped and even skin. This is the only skincare product, I’ve ever use where I actually notice INSTANT results. I can visibly see plumper skin in minutes. I don’t know how they do it, but believe the hype. I know the price tag is high, but I can see this lasting me at least 6 months. This has a slight tingle on the skin. I use this 3-4 times a week on the days when I’m not using Glow Tonic.

Ingredients: Opuntia Tuna Fruit (Prickly Pear) Extract, Agave Tequilana Leaf (Blue Agave) Extract, Cypripedium Pubescens (Lady’s Slipper Orchid) Extract, Opuntia Vulgaris (Cactus) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract & Saccharomyses Cerevisiae (Yeast) Extract, Lactic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Ppg-12/Smdi Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol And Ceteareth20, Glyceryl Stearate And Peg-100 Stearate, Arnica Montana (Flower) Extract, Peg-75 Meadowfoam Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil, Triethanolamine, Xantham Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, Dmdm Hydantoin.

The Rosehip and Argan Facial Serum by Fig and Yarrow is another standout for me. I was drawn to this for the rosehip and argan oils. Rosehip is popping up all over antiaging skincare. It has age fighting antioxidants like Vitamin A and C, and argan oil is known for its skin smoothing benefits. So these are definitely two oils you want in your routine. This is fast absorbing, lightweight, and has never broken me out. This is a new favorite.

Ingredients: oils of: Rosa rubiginosa (rosehip)*†, squalane (from olive), Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba)*, Corylus avellana (hazelnut), Argania spinosa (argan)*†, Prunus domestica (plum) kernel†, Punica granatum (pomegranate)*, Oenothera biennis (evening primrose)*, Tocopherol (vitamin E, non-GMO), Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, essential oil blend

Eye Cream:

I love this eye cream by Acure, because it’s thick and reasonable priced. The littlest bit goes a long way. I love how it plumps and hydrates my under eye.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Aqueous Extracts/Extraits Aqueux: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract (Organic Ingredient), Organic Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract (Organic Ingredient), Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehips) Fruit Extract (Organic Ingredient), Organic Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract (Organic Ingredient), Organic Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract (Organic Ingredient), Organic Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Organic Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Leaf Extract (Organic Ingredient), Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cathamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cocoglycerides, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Levulinate, Potassium, Sorbate, Glyceryl Laurate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Tocopherol Acetate, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Ubiquinone, Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture Extract, Marrubium Vulgare Stem Cell Extract.

And for the last step… I like a heavy moisturizer to really lock everything in! I love this Resist Intensive Repair Moisturizer by Paula’s Choice. This has the “over the counter version” of a retinoid, so the retinol in this is  weaker form. Because of this, it’s a great introduction to retinol. This cream is thick, yet spreads easily, and I wake up with smooth feeling skin. I don’t experience and tingling or irritation with this. This does seem to plump fine lines, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my skin tone. My hyperpigmentation seems to have diminished. The ingredient list is helpful as it explains the reason behind each ingredient! I love that Paula’s Choice does this!

  1. Glad you’re taking care of your skin now! Sunscreen everyday. 🙂
I’m a big fan of chemical exfoliation – my favourite is from Paula’s Choice – her Resist 10% weekly AHA is amazing.
I want to try the Acure eye cream! Have heard lots of good things about that brand – have you tried other products from them that you can recommend?

I didn’t know you had a YT channel… off to check it out. 🙂

    1. I’ve tried their facial scrub and love it! It’s a physical exfoliant so it may be a little harsh if you have sensitive skin. But I’ve never had an issue on my normal to dry skin. It makes my skin super smooth and bright! Thanks for your comment! 💗
