Best Foundations of 2017- Also, Is There a “Shape Tape” Foundation on the Horizon?!

Rumor has it that Tarte is coming out with a Shape Tape foundation! What?! They haven’t said anything officially, but they teased the idea with a production photo on their Twitter account.

At first I thought I thought they were releasing mini or deluxe sized Shape Tape’s, but many of my beauty loving IG friends informed me it was a foundation! Here’s the foreshadowing post…

How exciting is this?! I’m always looking to add to my foundation arsenal! And if it has the same high coverage, hydrating formula as Shape Tape, it’s going to be a winner!

This also got me thinking of my favorite foundations, so I figured I’d do a round up of my tried and true favorites!

Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Foundation

Cost: $40

Thumbs up for this high coverage, long wearing, matte foundation! I can count on this foundation to last through my 12 hour shifts with only the slightest amount of fade. This is, hands down, the most long wearing foundation I own! It blurs my pores and covers any hyperpigmentation. I often skin concealer when I wear this!  Be aware, I can accentuate dry patches, so make sure your skin is prepped. But when I use my First Aid Beauty Coconut Primer, my skin looks flawless. It’s extremely pigmented, so you really don’t need much. The littlest bit goes a long way. I reach for this when I’m craving a flawless, high coverage look with lasting power!

Becca Aqua Luminous Foundation

Cost: $44

I don’t know what took me so long to hop on this bandwagon, but I’ve been obsessing over this. It has so many things I love in a foundation. It gives my skin the perfect natural looking glow. It feels weightless on the skin and has just enough coverage for effortless makeup days. It’s categorized as light coverage, but I would argue medium. It covers up my dark spots just enough without looking cakey. The dropper applicator is also a plus too 🙌🏻 This is perfect for when my skin is looking dull, and I’m in need of some glow!

It Cosmetics CC Cream Cost: $38

It Cosmetics CC Cream blends like a dream and covers imperfections effortlessly! With an SPF of 50 the anti aging protection is outstanding! I save this for days when my skin needs a drink of moisture. It feels refreshing and cooling on the skin and wears comfortably. It keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day without feeling greasy! Described as a medium coverage foundation, I would argue medium to full! The original has a satin finish while the illuminating gives your the most flattering glow. I love mixing both formulas for the perfect radiance ✨

Too Faced Born Way Cost: $39The hype around this foundation is insane and for good reason! It’s high coverage yet feels lightweight. The application is silky smooth and sets to a satin, airbrushed look. It becomes one with your skin for a flawless complexion. The name says it all!

.

Urban Decay Skin Foundation Cost: $40 I don’t know what took me so long to try out this foundation. I think I read a few reviews that said this was a light to medium coverage foundation. So far from the truth! They pack so much pigmentation in this weightless foundation that it easily covers my hyperpigmentation! It’s lightweight, floats over pores, and even contains good for your skin ingredients such as peptides and antioxidants. This will be a new staple!

Hope you enjoyed! Did you have any foundation discoveries this year?

  1. I think the Tarte Shape Tape foundation will have crazy high coverage! I have yet to try the concealer but all the beauty gurus swear by it.
The It Cosmetics CC Cream is on my wish list to try – now that Sephora finally carries it here in Canada! I’ll probably pick it up during the Spring VIB sale.

  2. Ooh, I am yet to try the Shape Tape concealer, but the foundation is gonna break records I believe. However, all of us beauty enthusiasts have very high hopes for this foundation, and it scares me to think that it might not match our expectations. But what if does? Oh joy!

  3. I use and am in love with the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. It covers my hyperpigmentation and my visible pores too. I’m interested in the UD as well. I have dry skin with a little oily t zone. Do you think the UD would work as well as the It Cosmetics? I really love the added benefit of the spf 50 physical sunscreen in the IT so unless I could find a physical sunscreen that doesn’t make my face greasy or dry, it’ll be hard to switch. Thanks again for all you do Lauren. I truly appreciate you.

    1. I have the same skin type as you! Dry with oily T. The UD Decay covers just as well as the IT CC. It’s not as hydrating as the CC but it’s more lightweight. It applies like a serum foundation but has medium (but buildible coverage). Hope that helps! And thanks for reading! 💗

  4. Haha, I’m one of those people who think that the Naked Skin foundation is medium coverage! Definitely not light, though. I do wonder how it compares to the All Nighter foundation!

The TF Born This Way foundation and the IT Cosmetics CC cream are both on my list of foundations to try, hopefully this year. What skin type do you have?
